God is Spirit– John 4:24 Jesus said , “God is Spirit”, and His worshippers must worship Him in spirit and in truth. God lives in unapproachable light, and no one has seen or can see God- 1 Timothy 6:16b
God is living– 1 Thessalonians 1:9b Paul commended the Thessalonians for turning to God from idol worship to serve the living and true God. 1 Timothy 3:15b The Church of the living God is the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 4:10 We labor and strive to put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. We serve a living God who is approachable through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
God speaks to us– In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by his Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. Hebrews 1:1
The proper name of our divine God– Yahweh– Yahweh means “self-existent”, “not created, but Creator,” or “God is”. Genesis 3:14– God says, “I am who I am.” Genesis 2:4 says, “When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens-”. “The Lord, the God of your fathers…This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.”- Exodus 3:15. Psalm 102:25-27 says that the earth and the heavens will perish and wear out like a garment, but the Lord will remain the same and His years will never end.
The mysteries of God– Job says in Job 11:7-8 , “No one can fathom the mysteries of God or probe the limits of the Almighty”. Deuteronomy 29:29 says that “secret things” belong to God. Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 11:5, “As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.”
God is simply the beginning and the end of all things, the Alpha and Omega. Don’t forget it! Don’t forget it. Drill it into your brain. Remember. Remember. Remember…………this is the theme of the book of Deuteronomy. Next time you study Deuteronomy, look how many times the author says, “Don’t forget”, or “Remember”! There is something about our tendency as humans to forget………..
