Our Core Christian Values

imagesThe Bible is truethe Bible is Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. The Bible is absolutely true. If it isn’t, we are all wasting our time!  It should be the goal of all Christians to “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15  Learn the Bible as well as you know your secular career!

There is ONE true God  The Bible teaches that our God exists in three persons–Father, Son and Holy Spirit as the Triune God (see Trinity). Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” “I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.”- Isaiah 42:8.  He refers to the Trinity in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” “Jesus Christ is the One true mediator between man and God, who gave Himself a ransom for all men”- 1 Timothy 2:5-6. Some people believe we all worship the same Creator. How false. Far from the truth. Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God!

Jesus Christ is God and manJohn 1:1,14 says, “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us”. Jesus says in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.”  He was  born of a virgin woman Mary (Luke 1:26-38), lived a life without sin, died for our sins on a Roman cross, and rose again on the third day at the resurrection.  His Second coming in the future is a sure thing. John 14:1-3 says Jesus will come back and take us to be with Him so that we will  also be where He is in heaven.  Jesus, though God,  chose to become human and humbled Himself.-Philippians 2:5-11.

The Holy Spirit indwells the believer  the Holy Spirit empowers those believers who are yielded to God to live lives that are exemplary of a believer. Ephesians 5:18– “don‘t get drunk on wine. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.” John 14:26 says, “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I (Jesus) have said to you.”

God created man, (Genesis 1:26) who chose to sin  Man deliberately sins against God and is a sinner by nature and by choice. “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.”- Romans 5:12   There is none righteous, no not one!- Rom 3:10-12

Men and women have no excuse–  “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”  Romans 1:20 Not seeing God in creation is because of closed eyes. I’ll be bloggin on the topic of creation in the future!

One should love God more than the world“Love  the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”  (First of the Ten Commandments)  Matthew 22:37 says to love God is to love His creation and His purposes. Your faith and trust in Him increases!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Salvation is provided Jesus’ shed blood on the cross  is an atonement (a debt paid) for all of our sins. This is the Gospel preached by the apostle Paul  in key verses: 1 Corinthians 15:1-7.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Grace Grace saves the sinner having faith in Jesus Christ alone through grace gives us the free gift of eternally life with God. Grace is unmerited favor.   Ephesians 2:8-9.  Our works do not save us!  Romans 6:23 says “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life.” You don’t have to work to get to heaven, like all other world religions believe. Galatians 2:21-“I don’t set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Good works prove your faith–   Ephesians 2:10 says “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Titus 3:8-“Those that have trusted in Christ should be careful  to devote themselves to doing what is good.” James 2:22- “You see that faith and actions are working together, and faith is made complete by what we  do.”

The most important thing in lifeis knowing and understanding God and that He is Lord of justice and righteousness and  whose love is steadfast!  “This is what the Lord says: Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.”   Jeremiah 9:23-24

There is a commitment to growing in the Lordin the process of real, transformed Christ-like living in every area of our lives.- Romans 12:2  Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.- Philippians 2:12 This means we should be sober Christians who along with the Holy Spirit, plan our steps in daily living.

We share God’s truth and values with othersto our culture in a relevant, effective, and creative manner.  Nehemiah 8:8  We share the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ with people who do not have a personal relationship with him.  1 Timothy 2:3-6

Praying is a primary ingredientfor spiritual success- James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.                                                                                                                                                                                We desire to worship Godby being in His presence, enjoying Him, and giving Him honor.- Isaiah 61:10

We desire to belong to a Biblical community (church) this is where we support and hold each other accountable and nurture our Christian lives.- 1 Thessalonians 5:11  Church is a place we share our talents and spiritual gifts.  I’ll be bloggin on spiritual gifts soon.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   We serve Jesus Christ with excellenceby investing our times, talents, spiritual gifts, and finances.- Colossians 3:17

Satan is  opposed to God  He is our great adversary and is out to destroy Christians and the work of the cross. 1 Peter 5:8 says that the devil is our enemy who is like a lion trying to devour us. Fortunately, he is doomed to eternal punishment in hell.  Matthew 25:41 says that “eternal fire has been prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Those who reject Christ  will be tormented in Hell forever.  See Luke 16:19-31.   Hell is a real place of suffering and punishment.  Jude 5-7 says some will undergo a punishment of eternal fire. Sobering to say the least.

Next week: “Faith, the Cornerstone……….”

Nice blog. It is filled with Christian principles to live by and written by a man who not merely writes about them but lives them. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
