Abundance Comes From Abiding

The dictionary says that ABUNDANCE  means  “ample or overflowing quantity”.

Aren’t you thankful that Our God is a God of Abundance?  I am!

imgresWhen I think of God our Creator, I dwell first on His ABUNDANTLY beautiful creation on earth.

Some night when you are away from city lights, look up your eyes on high (Isaiah 40:26) and gaze into the heavens.  According to astronomers, if you have good eyes, you can see about 5000 stars in our one galaxy.  Guess what?  In 1995, the Hubble Deep Field Space study concluded there were billions of galaxies in the universe, each with billions of stars.  Now how is that for abundance? Our solar system is only a virtual “pin-head” in the Milky Way Galaxy……

But abundance can affect our individual lives also.

Do you know that God desires each of us to have an exemplary life filled with abundance?  But abundance of what, you say?

A life filled with purpose and fulfillment.  How do I know that?

Jesus Himself tells us this in John 10:10b. “I (Jesus) have come that they (we)

may have life, and have it ABUNDANTLY.  That’s right.

Take a close look at this:

We are saved  because of  His ABUNDANT grace. (Romans 5:20)

We have forgiveness of our sins  because of  His ABUNDANT mercy. (1 Peter 1:3)

We  have access to calmness because of  His ABUNDANT peace. (Ps 72:7)

We can have ABUNDANT joy in the midst of trials and sufferings of life. (Philippians 1:26)

We can have ABUNDANT satisfaction  in a world that tempts us not to be content. (Ps. 36:8)

God  is able to do far more ABUNDANTLY than all that we ask or think, according to the Power (Holy Spirit)  at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Wow. In spite of our smallness, God wants to bless us 10,000 times over.

Do you want the ABUNDANT life?  If you do, and I know you do, then you  must ABIDE in Christ .  That’s a given.

Abiding means “remaining viable”.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       John MacArthur says, “The abiding Believer is the ONLY legitimate believer.”

This is how you abide. You attach yourself  to the Vine.   Are you attached to the Vine today like you need to be? Are you receiving the nourishment you need?

God is the Gardner. Jesus is the Vine.  We believers  are the branches.

Know that God wants a bumper crop of  ABUNDANT delicious fruit  from your  branch.

How’s your fruit doin’?images

God gives to us an abundant life so that we may in turn share with others that OVERFLOWING  ABUNDANCE.

Check out John 15:1-17 if you want a special blessing this week: The Topic is ABIDING.  Over the years, I’ve heard both  Pastor Jerry Worsham and Pastor John Schindler preach powerful sermons on the importance of  these verses.
