If no Resurrection; No Christianity Part 2

Don’t miss the main message after the resurrection of Jesus– Matthew 28:5-7 The angel of the Lord gave four messages to the women after Jesus was resurrected (Mary Magdalene and the “other” Mary): 1) Do not be afraid! 2) He is not here 3) Come and see. Check it out. 4) Go quickly and tell.  This is the same message to us today:

No matter what, we need not fear. Believe in the resurrection. Check out the claims of Jesus. Tell others about Jesus.

It’s that simple.

Jesus ate food after his resurrection!

Jesus’ resurrected body: what was it like?Luke 24:30-31, 42 Jesus’ resurrected body was not just a figment of the imagination.  The disciples touched him, and he ate food (broiled fish).  However, he could appear and disappear. John 20:7 Jesus burial clothes were left as if Jesus had passed right through them.  The headpiece was still rolled up in the shape of a head, and it was at about the right distance from the wrappings that had enveloped Jesus’s body.

Jesus’ resurrection gives proof of God’s powerActs 17:31 Paul tells the Athenians that God will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed (Jesus). In vs. 32, Paul tells them that God gave proof of this by raising Jesus from the dead.  Philippians 3:10-11: Paul says this: I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Our hope is the resurrection! Acts 23:6 Paul stated, “I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 Paul did not want believers to by ignorant about people who die, or to grieve, like the “rest of men, who have no hope.”  He goes on in vs. 14-18 to encourage believers about the resurrection. No resurrection: no hope!

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for in his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade–kept in heaven for you.

After death we will have resurrected bodies like JesusRomans 8:23  We will be resurrected with bodies, glorified bodies like the body Christ now has in heaven (also see 1 Corinthians 15:25-58).  We have the “first fruits,” the first installment or down payment of the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of our resurrection life (see 2 Corinthians 1:22, 5:5, Ephesians 1:14).

Paul gives five points regarding our resurrected bodies– 2 Corinthians 5:1-5  1) vs. 1– Our physical bodies may be destroyed, but we will all obtain a new heavenly body made by God, fit for heaven. 2) vs. 2 Our present earthly bodies make us groan- this is more noticeable after age 50! 3) vs. 3 In heaven, we will have a body with a spirit. 4)  vs. 4-5 God has made us for the very purpose of going to heaven to be with him.  5)  vs. 5 The Holy Spirit gives us hope and assurance, guaranteeing what is to come.

Study these blogs with a Bible at hand! Learn from the Word.

Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Previously, in 40:6, it says, “All men (and women) are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.” The Word will never quit providing for you the way to eternal life. Ever.

In my next blog, I will discuss the angelic realm.
