Your Defensive Armor

Remember that Satan (the devil) is a like a roaring lion. 1 Peter 5:8-9a says this: “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around lie a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.”

God has allowed Satan to prowl the earth, looking for people to spiritually destroy. In our finite minds, we don’t understand it. But know this, God has given us what is necessary to resist Satan.

We have many pieces of defensive equipment to resist him!

Ephesians 6:13-18 says, “Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Believers- have defensive armor on!

What are the six pieces of armor of God?

Have the belt of truth buckled around your waist.

This says to know the ABSOLUTE TRUTH of the God’s WORD.

Unfortunately, 70% of Americans believe there is no absolute truth. 42% of the American public feel that Jesus was not sinless.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Have the breastplate of righteousness in place.

This is what Jesus teaches us:

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger for righteousness.

Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness!….. And you will be blessed.

Have your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

This says that you have to have PEACE OF MIND to have proper footing in life.

My favorites:

Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t be anxious, pray for everything, and the peace that surpasses understanding will guard your heart and mind.

Colossians 3:15   Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

FAITH is where it all starts folks, and it is a GIFT from God.

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith, you cannot please God. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that He rewards those who sincerely look for Him.

You can increase your faith this way:

Romans 10:17 Faith comes from hearing the Word of God, and the message is heard through the words of Christ.

Take the helmet of salvation-

Having the helmet on protects us from brain damage. The brain keeps us alive and protects our intellectual function and emotions. Little wonder that SALVATION is connected here.

Our hope of salvation defeats the fear of death!

Take the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is the Word of God. And bath all of this armor in praying in the Holy Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to live the lives that God wants us to live.

Prayer connect us to God and shows our dependence on him!

Jude 20-22 Build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch other from the fire and save them; to others show mercy.
